Mar 30, 2022
The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service have appointed Robin Macpherson WS as Auditor of the Court of Session after an open recruitment process.
Robin, who previously held the role as Temporary Auditor of the Court of Session, will take up his appointment on 1 April 2022. He has also been appointed as Auditor of the All Scotland Personal Injury Court and the Sheriff Appeal Court, effective from the same date.
As well as undertaking the traditional role of the Auditor in dealing with taxing accounts of expenses and determining the amount properly payable when an award of expenses has been made, Robin will also assume responsibility as ‘Head of Profession’ for all sheriff court auditors, providing leadership and guidance on the role of a court auditor.
Robin is an experienced litigator and solicitor advocate. He was a litigation partner in Robson McLean WS and Brodies for over 26 years and has overseen the role as Temporary Auditor for the last two years.
Kay McCorquodale, Executive Director of the Judicial Office said: “We are delighted that, following his period as Temporary Auditor, Robin was keen to continue the role and seek appointment as Auditor. Robin’s previous experience in this role will ensure that he is able to hit the ground running and look to build on some of the changes he has already made to modernise the office.”
Robin said: “I am delighted to have been appointed to the position of Auditor of the Court of Session on a permanent basis. Making the best use of my experience over the past two years, I look forward to continue to improve the process for court users.”
