History of the Auditors of the Court of Session

 

This office was established by Act of Sederunt, in February 1806.  The Auditor was made a permanent official and a Member of the College of Justice in 1821.  The Auditor is now appointed under Section 14 of the Civil Litigation (Expenses and Group Proceedings) (Scotland) Act 2018.
